MATERIALS:

If you intend to create web pages with a lot of audio, video or high-resolution graphics, you may want to purchase your own Flash Disk as a back up for the material stored on the server.

CONTENT:

Design and develop web based instruction and materials; Study various forms of web-based instruction with emphasis on online learning technologies.  Integrates appropriate methods, curricular resources, assessments, and Internet delivery systems.

GOAL:

This course is designed to provide students with the background information that is required to help create and post web-based materials.  In addition, students will be given the opportunity to apply this knowledge in the actual implementation of topics to web pages.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

1)   create web pages using an editor (Dreamweaver);

2)   scan images and take digital images;

3)   add digital images to a web page;

4)   digitize and add sound and video to a web page;

5)    evaluate the design of web pages;

6)    link web pages with Blackboard;

7)    work with features of HTML; and

8)   design and create a web pages/sites.

 

 

ATTENDANCE:

The nature of this class requires regular attendance.  Students missing more than one class are encouraged to consider withdrawing.  Absences may affect grades.

 

 

READING

Different readings will be assigned each session (see web schedule).

 

GRADING:

Your grade will be based on assignments, class attendance, and the course project.  An A/F grading system is used for this course.  A full range of grades is possible.  Unless previously cleared, all materials must be turned in on time.  Grades will be based on the percentages :

A: 92%            B: 84%            C: 76%            D: 68%

 

 

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY

As required by WWU policy, cases of suspected academic dishonesty (plagiarism and so on) will be reported.  A committee reviews these reports and gives the participant under review the opportunity to defend themselves before taking action.  If you have any questions about this policy or what plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty include please ask; failure to ask assumes a complete understanding.  There is no statute of limitations on plagiarism.
